Hi. My name is Oronde.
I used to go by the name christianSoul. This started in 2010 due to my thirst for creativity. I wasn’t a singer (or at least I thought I wasn’t), but I couldn’t find any good singers to work with at the time, so it began. It first began with the 80’s Baby mixtape, then the lovejones mixtape, and finally with the No Average Journey EP.
I chose to go by this moniker to keep my business and artist lives separate. In hindsight: I was hiding behind it to avoid facing the fact that I was being called to be more than just a songwriter or businessman. I was hindering the opportunity to share the light I was gifted with. Once I realized this, I knew it was time to stand firm in what I was here to accomplish. It was time to simplify.
My mother was told that Orondé means “chosen by God”. I can’t entirely prove that, but I did a Google search about a year ago and the definition listed was “Appointed”. Those are some big shoes to fill, but I’m ready for the challenge.
